Have you ever worn jewellery of etched gold sheets embedded in multi-coloured glass? If you have not, this is the right time to try something different. Thewa collection from Jaipur offers mystical designs inspired by 16thcentury art. The designs also depict aesthetic images of animals, birds and flowers stringed in LB shaded single cut diamonds, tourmaline, emerald and rubies.

If you are eyeing for unique collection of gold, precious and semi-precious and diamond jewellery, the 30 stalls at ‘The Jewellery Expo’ are the right place to explore. A range of traditional, cultural yet fashionable designs and creations drew almost every person who stepped into the 14thdition of the expo here on Saturday.

For those who are fond of heavy antique jewellery, a stall from Bangalore showcases peacock shaped ear-hangings, navaratna mala, gundu mala with rudraksh carving, jumkas, padakam, neckpieces, hip-chains and other ornaments that are 150-year old.

Chandbali ear hangings, unique fusion of craftsmanship with kundan, diamond and polkis embedded on Italian gold chain, French enamelling inspired by nature, beautiful floral pendants made of Germany stones, mash chain, solitaire neckpieces with elusion setting, Columbian emerald ornaments, tussi neck pieces with a twist of tourmaline form part of the eye-catching display.

Even the old patterns of kasumala and mango-mala have given a new touch that suits the younger generation. Nagas jewellery collection, tiger nail shaped neckpiece, two-sided kangans and five-in-one ornaments are sure to attract one’s attention.

One can also get to see kundan hip keychains embedded on silver jewellery. There are two stalls that display one-gram gold jewellery with a good combination of precious stones that appear to be affordable for the economy class.

It is nice to see latest trends and patterns of jewellery across the country at one place, said Deputy Inspector General of Viskhapatnam Range Swati Lakra who inaugurated the exhibition.

The three-day expo will be open till Monday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. at Hotel Taj Gateway.
